Good afternoon! Want to sign up for a hike, leave comments, share photos, or track what's happening? Simply register. :-)
Alright, let's do this! The trip on Thursday is open only to the members of the Acting Studio and their guests who saw the play on 5/22 and 5/29. Bring either a metro card for the morning train or the subway fare one way; food, and water. Cameras of course! Rain jackets, just in case. Those of you who take train to come to Ocean Parkway - you can wait for us on the platform to avoid paying extra.
Congratulations to all the Acting Studio on an amazing performance last night! See the pictures and upload yours.
The meeting time is 7:50 A.M. Not by the school!!! The corner of Ocean Parkway and Brighton Beach Ave ! There's a pharamcy on that corner; you will see some other students waiting. The first time hikers - bring the parent consent form (very important!!!) signed by your parents, $ 10.00 for the trip and $ 5.00 for the membership (paid once a year). Also bring something to drink and to eat, a camera and sunblock if you don't want to get sunburned.
As we are finishing with the Regents week and getting ready for The Ski Trip, we all should treat ourselves to a story that can be found only on wehike.net (wehike.net/essays/19)! Remember, we're going to a bear country - that's where Mt. Creek is located. Yes, chances to see a bear this time of the year are very slim; and yet get ready by reading about a she bear falling in love with someone she found in the woods. That "someone" happened to be your favorite teacher - Mr. Majmin! Copyright! Enjoy reading and remember to leave feedback. You might as well asnwer the following questions about the reading and get extra points in Ms. Dikovsky's class!
1. What is the point of view? If first, whose? Mr. Majmin? An anonymous narrator? The bear? 2. What's the setting? 3. What does the story make us think about? How is it realted to our lives? 4. Where is irony in the story? 5. Is there symbolism? 6. What are some important themes (messages) in the bear story? 7. Did the bear use any similes or metaphors? If yes, where?
DO NOT OVERSLEEP ON 2/1!!!
